While they obviously constitute an undeniable tangible heritage, historic fruit and vegetable gardens also, and probably above all, constitute a unique intangible cultural heritage. Indeed, all the artifacts of a historic fruit and vegetable garden (storage cellars, greenhouses, walls, etc.) were created to serve a production function and require specific horticultural knowledge and know-how, which constitute contributions to the universal intangible cultural heritage.
